View Full Version : Main Crank Seal
End of the crank at flywheel end, possible to change in situ?
yes mate it will be possible (comes of with the plate iirc) whilst you have the box off you should have the room. but like said on C16v if your not sure for the time it takes just take the lot out and find the leak (i'd have done ti that way for the box change anyway). you gonna change the frame now though seen as it half has to come off?
yes and theres those fitted to the main bearing cap too..
when u take the box off just take the clutch/flywheel off and have a look, dont need to remove anything else, screw driver to pop it out if u need a new one!
just pops out? :? renault part? going tomos to get pivot bush so will pick seal up n all on priciple n do if its that easy
lol yeah u can pop it out with a screw driver as if your replacing it then it dont matter if u damaged the seal,
putting it back in you have to be carefull as the inner face has a spring to keep it on the crank so it seals, ideally you need to use a proper tool but you can get away with using something circular thats the correct diameter!
i'll grab one and blag it
Be sure not to knock it all the way in--only have it flush with the housing.
And oil it first aswell...

oil only the inner face, outer edge should be kept dry
