Welding kits query [Archive]

Hi,

i'm thinking of investing in a welder to do some odd repairs on the car.

Can someone give me a quick guide as to what equipment i need/prices as there seems to be a fair range of kit out there (i.e. mig/tig/arc/gas bottles). :?

Would be for small repairs only really...i'm not going to be working with stainles steel or welding the qe2 together!

Defo get a mig - halfords would be your best bet. SIP do some good kit

You want a set that can weld 0.8mm steel, get gas thats Co2 and Argon mix.

ive been thinking of a kit myself just sumin cheap so i can make some of my own stuff and do the odd repair. if you find anything real cheap post it up would be interesting to see how much it would cost
