View Full Version : Torsion bar removal home made tool
OK, need to lower mine this weekend.
What do I need to remover the bars, raise the arm up on the jack and then re-insert?
My mate did my last one, with a socket, threaded bar and some nuts/washer, but I dont knwo what sizes of what I need.
Please help guys
socket and a washer that fits an m10 nut and bolt mate
socket and a washer that fits an m10 nut and bolt mate
So, I get an M10 nut (that goes into end of bars, then socket over the bar and tighten nut to washer, and that will pull bar out??

Should look something like that, the socket sits over the outer bracket, screw the bolt in quite a distance whilst the nut is still loose, wind the nut in and your away, in theory!
OK, I took the plastic end caps off last night, lashings of plus gas (looked nice and fresh inside to start with), and also did the middle part of the beam that splits.
But, I only have to remove the bars that are covered by the end caps? Not the others??
yes mate...others are anti roll bars and should not be removed..
Sweet.
I am attempting this on my own with the use of axle stands and a trolley jack.
I expect a monday morning "****ing bastard car is shit" thread when I have done something wrong, lol
its easy mate, so long as the bars aint stuck, persuade them with a hammer as you tighten the nut up to draw them out

Just be careful not to wind the nut too much in one go and shear the threaded bar as it will be a bastard to get out
Did mine on the valver not long ago. Was easy.
