RENAULT CLIO CUP MK1 RACE/TRACK CAR
Serial number 1285
This is a genuine CLIO CUP race car that was used for part of a season following the TOCA tour around. It then spent up to 2-3 years in dry storage unused. When I purchased it, the car had a blue printed rebuilt 1.8 16v engine fitted. It now has a 2.0 litre unit fitted (details below) I have owned this car for nearly two years now and have spent many thousands of pounds improving the specification of the car and getting it to the superb condition it is in at present. I bought the car and spent money making it road legal as I wanted to drive it occasionally on the road. Last year I did 3 track days and this year I have done just the one. I bought the car with 14800 miles on it, its now done 15500 (approx as not checked car dash yet) The car did 50 miles on the road last year after making it road legal, MOT, TAX and Insurance for 50 miles!!! Due to this I have not renewed the mot or tax as the car is trailered everywhere now. The car has spent most of its time in my heated garage that I rent. It has only seen rain at a track day or whilst being transported on the trailer. The car has recently had the last modifications done to it since the engine swap (details below) and has done only 150 -200 miles on this engine. The car is currently at AP Developments in Swansea for some final fine tuning of the newly fitted JENVEY throttle bodies and a few other small modifications to set the car to an even higher spec. Craig took the opportunity to carry out a leak down test/compression test on the engine just to make sure all is well and the results were a strong sound engine. This is due to have its final mapping done soon. Estimated to be over 200 bhp with a smooth driveable power delivery due to the VEMS stand alone engine management. I will probably miss out something to the following list but here goes:
BODY:
Genuine CLIO Motorsport Cup Shell fitted with a full roll cage – serial 1285
Freshly painted rear boot lid minus the wiper mechanism to save weight
New Lightweight Polycarbonate Rear Screen
Resprayed front bumper (lightened) and grill meshed, fitted using bonnet pins
Brand new Ultra Lightweight Bonnet supplied in white but repainted in Renault white( to fussy I am!!)
I completely de stickered the car down to the standard white colour and have had some genuine graphics made up and added my own blue and white paint scheme to give the car a Fresh new look. (see pics)
Whilst the 16v engine was out of the car I painted inside the engine bay and treated the underneath and arches to a coat of waxoyl in order to protect the shell.
No rust problems whatsoever. The body is not showroom condition as it’s a race car, no parking dents but a few little blemishes here and there. Lightened Glass and vehicle weights 850kg approximately.

Installed on Lightweight Cobra Side Mounts and professionally fitted for strength.

New Aftermarket Oil pressure guage fitted into dash

Sparco Deep Dish Race steering wheel and SNAP off Boss Kit
Factory Fitted DEVIL roll cage with rear brace support and side impact bars
Fire extinguisher plumbed into footwell and engine bay

Brand New VEMS ecu mounted into footwell area
CHASSIS:
Williams set up, ¾ degree negative camber at front, adjusted front castor, slight toe in adjustment, Rare Quick CUP steering rack. De Carbon Race Shocks, Dampers and race springs with wider Williams track.
WHEELS:
Lightweight Speedline Alloy wheels sprayed in white with as new TOYO road tyres fitted. Spare set of 16v wheels, Slick tyres also available. I have just fitted new wheel studs and nuts to allow you to swap wheels over quickly and a lot easier than using standard Renault bolts.
BRAKES:
As new WILLWOOD Dynalite Callipers using new POLY E Brake Pads, rears standard Williams discs with mintex pads. Brand new Castrol response Dot 4 brake fluid. (200 miles use)
ENGINE
Williams 2.0 bottom end fitted with a Megane Head (better for throttle bodie installation)
Angleworks Modified Cylinder Head – increased flow etc
Brand New High Torque CATCAMS fitted serial number 5502208
New Cat cams Vernier Pulleys
New Inlet and exhaust Valves
New Cambelt
New Clutch
Brand new 286 cc Fuel Injectors
New Renault Spark Plugs
New Starter Motor
F7R10 Coilpack fitted
VEMS Stand alone fully mappable ECU installed
New OIL cooler kit installed with thermostatic sandwich plate 16 row
Oil changed after every track day using Opie Oils supplied Silkolene Pro S Oil
Recent complete coolant change using Genuine Renault coolant
Just installed JENVEY Throttle bodies using brand new CHADIL supplied manifold ( only place that makes them in Europe)
Jenvey trumpets and Large Sausage type filter.
Brand New ASHLEY competition exhaust fitted (98db)
Fully mapped up to the VEMS ecu (final mapping to be completed next week)
Engine has done under 200 miles since installation.

I also have a ORIGINAL CLIO CUP 16v Workshop Manual (100 pages of valuable tech info, very rare.
I have various spares which I will add in with the car, such as 16 v Bonnet in white, rear boot lid, front and rear bumpers, REBUILT 16 v Gearbox as a spare, headlights, rear lights, various other small parts, will have to check garage for a detailed list.
I also have a set of white SPEEDLINE alloys wrapped in Dunlop SLICKS (200 miles use after sandblasting and painting) BUYER gets first refusal at £350

Another set of four freshly sandblasted and resprayed set of SPEEDLINES unused on car with a set of Race Slicks. BUYER gets first refusal at £400 for the first set.
Overall this is a quick and reliable car ready to race/track or use on the road if your mad enough.!!! Recently completed modifications make this car on the button and ready to enjoy. As mentioned most modifications are recently fitted and are still AS NEW. This car has cost me thousands, I have just nearly had a heart attack and added up some of the receipts I have here and there just shy of £8 grand. (includes labour, filters, oils etc etc)
