my circlip on my jb3 box went the other night and I've been searching for a definative solution without much joy!
It's my understanding that the circlip is pushed out by the bit that the driveshaft slots in to due to the tapered cogs? my circlip and washer look imaculate, as does the diff!
also, once it gets pushed out once it creates a chamfer, meaning it's very likely to happen again if you just bung a new circlip in.
I heard the 172 boxes have a bolt in circlip, but after a lot of searching on cliosport, it seems only the 182 has it! (and all new boxes now) Is it possible to fit the 182 bolt in circlip to a normal jb3?
does anyone have a pic of a bolted in circlip?
I've heard you can just weld the circlip in too, which makes sense to me, but others say that that doesnt work either and instead it just lunches the diff!
If it means I need to get a new gearbox, then i'd prefer to do that now, rather than 'fix' it and have to deal with it again in a few days/weeks/months
any thoughts would be appreciated :D
