View Full Version : 1.8 RSi Gear box and Altenator +altenator tensioner bracket

Gearbox needs to be ideally around 70,000 miles or less may concider a few thousand miles over.
Altenator ideally the same as above or if anyone has a reconditioned one not from ebay that would be good.
tensioner bracket doesnt really matter on milage:)

cheap as possible

it's almost impossible to select reverse so yeah im guessing so.
several times ive just given up and pushed the car backwards

Have you checked the oil level, reverse is right at the top of the box iirc, and so is the first to suffer with lack of oil.

Rare for reverse, possibly the lease used gear to go

The oil gauge tells you engine oil level, NOT gearbox oil, and should NEVER be relied upon as they are notoriously inaccurate

Check your oil level on the box, there is a plug hole on he front of the box, the oil level should be up to the underside of this hole....always check teh cheapest/easiest things first before going onto the stupidly expensive options
