custom exhaust

with the help of alex_blue16v, who lent me his downpipe, i have had a downpipe made, its only of mild steel at the mo as my friend cant bend stainless :evil:

however now i have the shape i need im going to have a stainless one bent, im going to buy the pipe from ebay as its cheaper, however, wot size should i go for. from the downpipe all the way through.

i was thinking 3 inch, but then when it comes mot time i'll need to change the whole system including downpipe just so i can put the cat on?

could i mod the cat by sticking 3 inch pipe on it??????

any ideas with what i should do. i assume the cat is 2 1/4 inch?

If you going to use a 3" downpipe I would suggest matching the system throughout to make the most from the gains...
If you had a 3" de-cat pipe made all you would need is a new flange welded to the cat to match the larger flange reqired for a 3" system, restriction for a day, but it would get you through the mot and you can swop back to the 3" afterwards...
