View Full Version : The plugs in thermostat housing...
Stripping the head down, I've tried to take the thermostat housing off to be replaced. There are three plugs in it. One brown, one grey, and one smaller than the others and white. The white one has completely corroded on the sensor bit which I gather is some kind of temperature sensor?
Does anyone know what the white one is for? Anyone ever bought and replaced it and know a rough cost? Mine is totally fekked!

lol £20 for that tiny thing haha!
Okay thanks mate. Will need the grey one too as I snapped the side off hehe.
Scrap yard or motorfactors for the win ;)
White one is the temp gauge sender IIRC and the Brown one is the ECU temp sender. I can't picture the grey one though
the grey one is a lot bigger than the white one.
It's interesting to see the extent of corrosion on these things. I think when I finish the project the car will be running a lot better than before...it wasn't bad before to be honest, but all the little things I have replaced should make for a more reliable car :)

Grey one is the anti-perc sensor.
Mat.
One of each please mat!!! :P
Oh wait, think I broke the other one, the green one as well, I'll have a look when I get home.
the white one sends the temp to the ECU

I thought the white one was for the gauge?
Mat.
I always thought the sensors where:
White = Coolant Temperature Sensor (CTS)
Brown = Temperatue sensor for the guage
Grey = Anti Perc
Mat you surprise me !
noo the white is defo not the gauge one, its the one for the ECU
Well, whatever is what, the white one is shagged and the grey one I broke a bit...It'll probably be fine but I should get another.

Only thing that makes me say that is cos on a recent car we had no temp gauge but it came on when we wiggled the wires to the white plug.
