I am just putting my toe in the water on this one.

I have the head off my engine, and before I send it off for an overhaul, which will cost about £160, I am looking at options of what people have in the way of a functioning valver head, with no problems and no nasty shite all over the valves etc. I would need to know if this is a 'good head' (lol) , so skimming or any paperwork on tests its had are welcome.

Performance mods like porting and polishing would be a bonus.

WHYG?

I have a recently rebuilt 16v head but not got any paperwork with it.
Just standard as far as i'm aware, no porting or polishing.

Theres that williams head that in for sale atm - its standard but is almost the equivalent of a ported 16v head.

Well if thats how they come out the other end thats nice! I have been quoted around £160 using my own seals that I have here, plus VAT I think. At least then I will know for sure whats been done to it, and they will collect (plus I wont have a oily stinky head lying about the house with no where to go!).

Exactly my thoughts mate ... just get it done and dusted! You will be pleased with the outcome!

I have got to start building up my brand new F7R and then drop it into my baby!

Cant wait for it to be a hybrid! :D

LoL I bet you cant. I'd love to have gone that route but it's just money thats the big deal for me, since Xmas I've spent a lot on the car and I have to be careful, or else I would have done the same!

I have actually done mine cheep mate .. i got a 250 quid F7r Megane lump off Ebay, collected from newcastle, sold the head for 100 quid
Which in total means i paied 150 quid for my bottom end,

I bought a hybrid which i broke, and made my money back on that .. which means my head was free! :P And if i can shift these spare parts i will have had the work and parts i will have to buy free aswel! ;)

Trust me breaking cars is the way forward! :P

Yea, I see where you are coming from.

I've just had another look at a possible problem on the head which is that one of the studs still in the head with the (stuck) exhasut manifold is wobbling about and not letting me take the manifold off. It has likely threaded inside the head and got stuck :(

Not sure what to do now.

Leave it in ... when they go to sort the head they should sort it for you ... or bung them an extra 5/10 theyll do it! ;)
