no nobody was hurt thankfully, it was parked up outside work and an artic turning into a factory accross the road has hooked my car through the back window and dragged it a car length down the road, then the nob carried on driving and said he didnt feel a thing, luckily sum1 was having a fag outside work and seen everything happen.

I rang him last night for his insurance details and he wouldnt give them me as he said the insurance wont fix it, come and let his mate have a go at fixing it as its only a shitty old clio, i told him to do 1 and phoned the police, 5 mins later he rang back with his details, so waiting for my courtesy car and the insurance surveyor to see how bad it is,

will post some pics later tonight see if any of you guys can give me an idea whether its a write off

208's are better!

208's are better for peak power (longer duration), depends entirely on what application your after.

actually I use the car on track and slalom race...
I have a modif. head allready, and also a lightened flywheel. I would like to use cams and management system, to have about 200hp. Would like to have power allready from about 3000rpm....

That is why I would like to know your experiences, If somebody have any kind of special cams.

Thank you in advance :)

What type of modifications does the head have fella?

Oszy

Actually it is a Megane Coupe F7R head. I have a so called Group "A" modification.
The inlet side size is modded to so "big" so I could put the Williams inlet mainfold onto.
Actually I saw the quite same modification on a megane head, in the below topic:

sorry for my poor English :)

yeah it standard setting but with some verniers you can get some quite imprssive results! Got no figures as there crap anyway but on the road they are amazing! :D

I believe cliolord had 225's in at some point and had a very good opinion of them. Can 208's be run on standard lifters? What sort of power band do they have though- are they not equivalent to say piper 285's or kent 2003's or are the wilder than that although they seem to have less lift at tdc?

stan
10-04-2008, 23:04
yeah gaz ran 225's initially. those and a modified williams head from myself made about 185bhp iirc.

The 208's tend to give a flatter, broader torque curve. as mark says this can be swung by tweaking the timing figures.

on a near std engine i would opt for 225's.

I had 225's on my old Williams and they were spot on. Made a load more power and didn't even get them mapped.

would the 225's b alrite on a standard 1.8, wat sort of price do these go for?? how much would u charge stan 2 fit these and a new cambelt??

stan
15-04-2008, 21:49
Yeah they are fine in a 1.8.

cams are £450, pulleys £200, I can fit inc new cambelt for £350. This includes timing them correctly using a DTI.

would i b able to cam it and at a later date get the pulleys or would i hav 2 do them 2gether?? how long would u need my car to do the cambelt and cams??

stan

Ideally they need doing together, to get the best out of the cams.

Depending on workload, can do them in a day.

plus it saves stripping the covers off again and slacking the new belt, best advice i could give would be to save up until u can afford both at once, takes that little longer but worth the time and hassle.
