also on the outer carrier there was a metal plate type thing that sits on the back of the pad, but only on one side of the car! i assume this is an anti squeel plate? cos i took that out aswell lol
cheers

pad retainign clips very important for me, stops the pads coming flying out under extreme stress..... get them back in asap or buy a fitting kit to replace lost items

I thought the clips were only anti-rattle clips. Pads are held in place with the slide-in wedge thingy at the bottom.
^^^^^^^ hes right anti rattle clips....not pad retaining..

well for me, if something can rattle... it means it can move considerably which as we all know can lead to a rather doomful end lol
ah well ive still got them somewhere so i'll put them back on
what about the metal plate on the back of the carrier? that looks liek your typical anti squeel plate, and as i say the other side didnt have one so i assume its not needed
the pins are the anti rattle and the metal plate stops them coming out iirc,
was a guy in a williams 3 at cadwell this year who managed to lose a rear brake pad :D was just a glowing red pad sat in the middle of the track lol

Pretty sure that's the anti-sqeal plate. Mine fell off somewhere and I've not bothered replacing it - now the metal clip things that would hold them in place just rattle over bumps lol
You need those clips to keep the pads in.

No, As Neil said they are just anti-rattle clips.
They only thing that holds the rear pads in the the L shaped bit of metal at the bottom.
The metal clip and lump of metal is also anti-rattle/squeel.
Mat.
sound job cheers mat :D
might aswell put them back in for the sake of 2 mins work, although the squeeling from the carbone lorraine's would drown out any noise from the rear lmao 8)
