Living down country lanes and off the beaten track, i find my standard lights are just a bit shite! lol
tempted by some aftermarket HID's but MOT is coming up and i know they are a dodgey area, as a result, whats the best aftermarket bulb for better lighting, not going for a cool look but a practical 'better lighting' one,
what are people running? where from and how much? pics?
cheers ears

Got any pics of the philips GT150's and the halfords rally 100w bulbs? Would the MOT man fail the headlights on the 100w?
I have just replaced the bulbs on my williams!
I went for halfords super brilliance ones, and they are so much better than all the others i have tried!
Currently on buy one get one free so both bulbs for £14.99 :)

cheers appreciate it ;)
Best standard bulb I ever used was the Alpha Blue's recommended by Brun a few years ago before I switched to HID. Brun used to work in Motorworld and literally tried every bulb under the sun until he came across these.
~£20 pair if I remember rightly. Do a search for them.

cheers, just tried searching and it only comes up with HID conversion kits and medical equipment! haha
If your headlights are looking dull then new units can improve the performance.
I run Piaa bulbs and cant fault them. Well worth looking into.
Am using Philips X-treme Power and got them from here.

I paid £29 for the plasma fx blue headlight bulbs from here:
http://www.priracing.com/section.php?xSec=33
They dont appear to sell them there no more, but tweeks sell them for £72
Ok I must apologise I got the name wrong
They are actually called Ultra bulbs.
See thread:

Very good value for money and as good as PIAA bulbs imo.

i use piaa extreme force and they seem to do the job!
they the illegal 100w ones or different? any pics of the car with the lights on?
Got the illegial 100w ones for halfords, bti brighter on dipped beam, and ALOT brighter on main beam, never to this day been flashed with them and been running them for a few years
I run the 100 watt ones for years. only problem i ever had with them was on a xr3i. They melted light wiring. Never had a problem with them in 6 yrs of 16v/williams ownership.

Depending on if you want to spend ££ or £££, PIAA Extreme White Plus (Anti-Vibration as well if you want) range from £45 to £67 and they are excellent - run them in mine and Mat noticed, without prompting, how good they were when he drove it.
Or, HIDs. You can get kits off here: http://search.ebay.co.uk/_W0QQfgtpZ1QQfrppZ25QQsassZdianeQ2dshop for cheap. They've come out well on the celica forum I've been looking at recently (not for me lol) and are only about £70-75 for Hi-Lo H4 kits.

(not sure you can see all of thsoe without logging in)
you've also got the Bi-HID H4-4 Hi-Lo ones on here: http://www.hids-direct.co.uk/hid-products.html for £140 (halfway down)
Or, if you're feeling mad, 50w (rather than 35w) H4-3 Hi-Lo conversion for £130 (at the bottom of that link)
