5 months after my 'box went bang, I refuse to pay £900 labour to fit a new one, so attempt to fit myself (with zero mechanical experience), bad move, thanks to some pals - and Matteh from this forum, no thanks to people supplying me with ****ed replacement boxes, ahem, we're finally back in bizzle!

Shit vid but I'd just like to share my joy that my car finally works again!!

And the attached image is what comes of leaving a car standing in a car port for 5 months 8)

looks stripped? stripped valver?

Yeah its totally stripped. Only 2 seats and a dash, a TINY bit of sound deadening which couldnt be removed!

Previous owner reckons 150bhp with Chip, Mongoose decat, Green cotton air filter (but nothing to feed it cold air yet), Id say its more or less standard power though. Wanna get it to the c16v RR day next year :)

It did eat most of justgtis.com 's forecourt though, before the 'box went :D

hehe well then 14.7 is the 1\4 mile time to beat for you then

it might make 150 bhp mine made 149 bhp with otu a chip, but i think any RPM after 7.2 with otu cams will drop in power more than its worth. thats y i never used a chip always worked better with otu a chip with standard head . try it with and without on the RR if u can :)

900quid labour? Wtf!? Who quoted you that!? I would have done it for less than a 3rd of that price!

Local garages dude, typed in the make/model in their little computer to get a book time of 11 hours = ~£900 labour.

If only I knew of u eh....!

what were they charging an hour man, 80quid? i can do a clutch in about 7hours anyway doing and engine out and i've done one by dropping the subframe but that generally causes problems especially with the capsulated nuts but still about 7hours with a few problems. you dont have to drop the frame right out either, drop the nuts off the drivers side and remove the passenger side, support frame and rest gearbox on the subframe. Glad you sorted it though mate :D
