It was an optional extra, so some do, and some don't. You can tell quite easily by looking at the pipework coming out of the master cylinder.
have a look down by the battery but if its a late model valver it will have it on.
my 95 valver never had it, the williams has it, but i'm far from convinced about it!

ABS is rubbish anyway ;)
Remove it and place the abs unit either on Ebay or in the bin, it's C**p

I understand the hinderance of ABS when ur racing, but in terms of saying 'the abs on the clio is crap', what do you mean? Is it just a shite early example of abs that doesnt work well, or that it just isnt wanted or needed for this type of car. See what I'm saying?
think its a poor version with very poor results.

i want to put the clio on the track so i might have to ask the other half ever so nicely to remove it if it does have it!

i didnt really want to ring the guy and ask him coz its an irrelevant question as im buying it regardless! god knows when another clio as nice as this one will come along!
easy job to remove the abs
everytime you go over a wet drain with one wheel and your braking, it sense's a lock up real early and the abs kicks in, not nice! had it on my phase 2, unplugged it lol it saved my ass once i was going around a corner, quite sharp and quite fast and there was a horse, reliving itself in the middle of the road, i cant help but think if i hadnt had abs things would have been different!!
I found ABS speeds you up in the clio, even in my 2000 Vectra, the ABS kicks in you you just speed up, probabily a combination of me trying to prevent it locking up and the ABS doing the same job......but its instinct not to just plant my foot on the brake pedal

My old 95 M reg valver had it, was useless.
The hybrid hasnt, much better tbh!
I still love the ABS, never had it kick in when I didn't want it - And it stops you fairly quick without you having to think much
Don't think i've noticed it on track either :?
can you fit abs to a valver thats hasent got it out of intrest
how easy is it maxi and do you mo whats involved beacuse i see a abs unit on ebay the other day
lots as you need abs unit pipes hubs rear brake discs and stuff and all the wiring. i would buy a car with abs either as a complete car to break or a car with abs. not an easy job but it possible.
as a safety feature on cars, ABS does nothing to improve road safety. the reason for this is exactly as lunner says, people drive faster to compensate for thinking they are 'safer' end result, same number of crashes!
Don't get me wrong, ABS is good for those people, like my mother lol who will just plant their foot on the brake pedal and not let off till they've stopped even if they are just in a 4 wheel drift, ABS will also enable, in theory you to turn corners whilst under hard braking, although the combination of ABS and an ESP system probably help here?
