View Full Version : 172 calipers and hubs
are the 172 hubs a different bolt spacing to the valver i wanted to run 172 calipers on my valver does anyone do a bracket so they fit?
Need to run the hubs, shocks and drive shafts (which means wide track)
The hubs and shocks are all much chunkier.... The won't hubs won't fit in the Valver/Williams shocks

you just need to machine 1.5mm off the mounting lugs on the valver hubs and the 172 brakes go straight on.

All you need is 172 hub, disk and caliper. Thats all...well, except a grinder and a drill!!
The hub wont fit in strut, so grind it thinner (bout 4-5mm)

Drill out strut holes to alow the much larger strut bolts

At the moment its just been a case of compairing the two hubs over many hours. They are identical in height, the angles are identical etc so all apears in order.
This assesment is however by eye, only time will tell, the only difference i can see is that the new hub is 'chunkier'.
I'm v.confident everything will be spot on, if not it'd be minor and i'd find a way to sort it
Paul
Camber can be easily corrected by slotting the holes in the strut and using a couple of 'gripper' washers

Correction to my post....
U need to swap the bearings from exhisting hubs into the new 1s
Paul
Would using 172 struts avoid the drilling procedure? And would they fit the topmounts?
Oh... can this be done in a Megane F7R with 262mm discs as standard?
