has anyone done it?

ive got a t28 which needs a rebuild, but the round the exhaust side of the actuator there is cracks due to running to much boost i presume.
i was thinking can i get a t25 exhaust housing and make a t25/t28 hybrid turbo?

if so what rebuild kit would i buy?

que the kit:

as above, ask the lads at CR turbos, talk to Vince Osborne, tell him Ben with the clio sent you, should be able to help you out with advice etc, but i saw my old unit in bits and its looks flippin complex, so many options of housings/wheels/bearings etc etc, not to mention balancing it n that

you can keep it in balance if you mark it all up aparently. got a kit from a guy on ebay and hes sent an idiots guide to rebuilding a turbo so hopefully it'll go ok!

I've been reading up on this myself. I don't like the sound of it myself, ur fine removing the housings as long as your careful not to clip the blades.

As for removing the turbine, i think thats best left to the pro's dude. At 250,000rpm it'd only take the slightest error from fixing the turbine back on visually for it to wobble...we all know what happens then :?

im going for it, got 360 degree bearing and a new exhaust housing. if it goes tits up then mastercard will be sponsoring a new 1!!!!!!

i'll have it checked out after ive rebuilt it anyway. its just another bit of fun

Not if it flies out of it's casing and screws something else (like you/your brake lines etc). Of course it can always screw up and chuck metal into the pistons, then you'll be wishing you did it differently after having to pay for a new engine.

However, good luck :D

Yeh id leave it to the pro's! if the compressor wheel breaks up then there's no stopping the debris until there embedded on the piston crowns

Still not keen. I can't be arsed with the aftermouth of it going wrong.

I dismantled mine today, but just took the housings off and cleaned them up. Toyed with the idea of whipping the turbine off....but bottled it.

I wouldn't think the bulk head is going to stop anything from coming through at those rpm's if something goes wrong. Driver sits right behind the turbo right?
