View Full Version : Portformance F7R Flow Figures

It strikes me some people are interested in flow figures for the Williams Clio.

These are Portformance's results from Gareth’s Nana & Scott’s Cup Car.

Both run at Chipwizzards in Rochdale.

Gareth’s Nana is running RN2002 Kent Cams, high flow Air filter and a four branch exhaust manifold as found in the Garage pages.

Scott’s Cup Car is standard albeit a balanced bottom end, the engine is literally hours old from a full (source the parts from anywhere) build and will only get stronger and more powerful the more time it spends being ‘Spanked’.

i think we should get a 'group buy' on cams and head work, what do you think ste... i think that would equate to around 50% discount? haha 8)

only 50%?

I was thinking more like 65% myself

I’m in the process of trying to source another person to map Gaz’s Nana because I’m not convinced with the look of the graph,
the torque looks like it’s hanging on curtain hooks mapped at 2500, 4000 & 6000 rpm,
it’s not right for a 16 valve to produce peak power before 6K then continue for 1200 revs across the top of the page,
I’m not sure what the injectors will flow or if they will go over 200bhp, if they are on full chat and the ignition has been ‘clipped’ to compensate for the lack of fuel bigger injectors should see well over 200bhp maybe even 210 @7K!

That’ll upset a lot of people  (calm down Dear - it’s just an advert)

Rick Wood is supposed to be good Steve.

I wonder if the top Renault specialists - Hill power, GDI would offer gaz 'gains or no fee' remap to see who is the best once and for all!

why would it have to be gaz s car?

would any of them offer me a gain or no fee option?

gaz's car because he doubts the chipwizzards map 2live. Perfect time to see if any other tunners can get better results with the same base ??

so they could actually try anyones whos been to wayne. or nick. or any other tuner in that sense.

could do but how many cars still run the same mods ???

2 live

quite a lot. i think youd be surprised.

im sure not absolutely everyone who has had work done by any of the tuners has had more work done since. summeh for eg with the cup car. monkeys williams. etc etc

I thought this website had a ‘sh1t filter’ it must be full and posts are coming through the overflow

I don’t recall asking for a free mapping session from anyone, we have a specialist lined up as soon as we all have some FREE time on our hands we’ll be taking it there and PAYING for the map!

The reason for the Nana being remapped is the map looks pants to me and other experienced engine builders! (an explanation for inexperienced back street engine builders is above)

Some members insist on dragging threads down to Jackanory levels

Out of curiosity, what does the k mean on the rolling road printout?

I'm not happy with mine either tbh. Looking at the two graphs of Gaz's and mine, you can see the same pattern at 2500, 4000 and 6000, but then mines the same base map as Gaz's.

the curves on those graphs look exactly like mine, when it was standard, albeit with higher numbers. after work the torque curve on mine flattened out, a lot sooner and for far longer than both those graphs.

as said above tho, mine was topping out at around 120-125 ib/ft but reached it at 4500 rpm and held it there pretty much til the redline.

It definately looks to me as if theres mapping issues...and its intresting Summeh mentioned his has the same base map, as the curves above are pretty similar in pattern to cliolords....also mapped (poorly) by chipwizards.

Its also very intresting to see the lack of a lambda curve; this info would be very intresting viewing.

IIRC Dans' t.b williams injectors were on about 80% duty cycle at 200bhp, so I wouldnt think any alteration should have been done on this front.
Some better spec cams in Gaz's will likely see it making power closer to the max engine speed, I dont think its a problem that its stopped making power and carried on a bit after C6krpm...thats just the torque dropping of as cams are stopping VE.

Give it a couple of months and you can bring it down to my dyno for some fettling

in fact looking closer at the 2 graphs above, mines the same drop in torque between 2500-3k revs, and 3750-4k but doesnt drop off as soon as its peaked as above.

Now that looks like a clean map :D good show!! Original ECU I take it?

Forgive me but I don’t know what mods (if any) people are running (that’s standard right?) :?

My mistake  it’s not standard that’s at the wheels
