hi there;

I was looking on cliosport to see if anyone had produced a PTFE inlet manifold gasket for use on valvers/williams/R19 and was told there was big thread about it on here...

I have done a search but can't find anything!!! I must be going mad. Can someone point me in the right direction. Looking at the JDM market these have proven to be quite successful - feel like the french ragabooms are missing out!!

Cheers

Chris

had one on my turbo. made it myself. not sure it helped much in the clio bay. inlet was still very warm.

How thick did you make it? Need to be quite chunky apparently.

made mine out of 3mm ptfe sheet. didn,t seem to do much though inlet temps are higher with the turbo so difficult to tell. going to run another though as there cheap and easy to make

bit of a shame that nobody can make these on a CNC machine really! looks like a steady hand it will have to be!!

surely somone knows someone with a CNC machine ready to make a few quid?

how much do you reckon people will be willing to pay for one of these and I will have a word with my mate to sort with his dads engineering firm, see if they can help at all.

20quid? lol not really sure on material costs ... but i'd want a good chunky size one.

Right I have got somebody who can make these up for us now by lazer... @3mm thickness (which fits fine - i have fitted one to my mates valver recently which we made by hand)

They will be an exact copy of the OE part.

Do people think there will be enough interest in these - if so we will make a batch up. I'd estimate cost between £20-25. Could probably get throttle body PTFE gaskets made up to help even more for about £5-10 each.

My mates valver has both TBody and Inlet Mani Gasket in PTFE and they do seem to work incredibly well!

Wheres best to post - group buy?

We will have pics as soon as they have been lazer machined cut mate - no problem at all.

Also no problems posting to France - might be an extra quid or two to cover postage costs.

Picking up OE gaskets today as a template to work from, then its just a case of ordering some material, draw it up, download etc, get it cut and away we go!

Will keep this thread updated.

UPDATE...

Just to keep you updated on this the CAD drawings for the clio 16v gasket have now been done so these should be available shortly! At last! :D

Will be in 3mm PTFE sheet, cut on a C02 lazer bed.

Exact copy of the OE item - initially clio 16v inlet manifold gasket, hopefully with throttle body gasket if we can get the drawings done too.

Will keep this updated for when they arrive etc.

Cheers

some news ?

Fred

Indeed news!!

I have rec'd 3mm thick inlet manifold gasket and throttle body gasket from the lazer cutters and all I can say is the quality is as it would be from Renault - perfect. To be honest I expected nothing less from a lazer cutting house.

I will have in this weekend hopefully the following for sale and then those of you who aren't sure can see the feedback from the others as to how good they are and can buy your own when we get some more matertial in....

3mm PTFE Inlet Manifold Gasket x6
3mm PTFE Throttle Body Gasket x8

As a guide for prices what are peoples thoughts on the following...

£24 delivered inlet manifold gasket.
£30 delivered inlet manifold and throttle body gasket.
£7.50 delivered throttle body gasket.

If people think these prices are ok then I will start a for sale thread. This is the thickest grade you would really want to use - maximum performance without fitting issues. Any thicker the performance gains wouldn't match the price and any less the performance wouldn't be as good as it could be! These are of the upmost quality and are using a high quality grade of PTFE.

Just FYI lazer cutter prices work roughly as follows:

Artwork @ £25.00 - per drawing
Set-up @ £15.00 - per batch
Each @ £60 per hour - thats £1 per min.

Bearing in mind a clio 16v inlet manifold gasket takes ten minutes to cut with a lazer - due to its high temp properties, that makes it pretty good value!

What do people think to the prices? :?:

Hi

Do you have pictures ?

Fred

I will try and get some up ASAP... maybe its best if one person purchases one so they can then vouch for the quality etc? Obviously if they are not happy with it then they can have a full refund however there is nothing that could possibly be better about these gaskets so I know that will never happen!

Volunteer?!

Thanks Alex - you have PM.

I will try and get photos up later and I'm sure Alex will leave feedback once the items have been rec'd, etc.

Will keep this updated.

Both Alex and Fred have purchased these gaskets now - sure they will report back on the quality when rec'd!

Glad you like it mate!

They are perfect thickness IMO, lazer cut, exact copy and I presume delivered quickly (it should have been!) and packaged well! Doesn't get much better I hope!

Are there any more questions before I make a proper For Sale thread? I presume that is the correct index to post it in?

It is important to me that everyone is 100% happy with what they are seeing before I start to shift them out properly - quality and customer satisfaction is most important!!

I currently only have

x4 Inlet Mani Gaskets
x7 T.Body Gaskets

but if these go well then I will get some more made up.

Cheers!

Glad you are happy with it mate!!

Incase you haven't spotted - you have got the gasket the wrong way round - the little tab on the side matches the OE gasket. I'm sure its only there to make it easier to remove but still it is an exact copy.

100% POSITIVE FEEDBACK SO FAR THEN! :D

excellent news! happy customers - what we like to see!

Fred - most importantly let us know if you see the heat reduction performance gains... when we fitted to my mates valver you could still rest your hand on the inlet manifold after driving for a while... try doing that without this gasket on lol - infact don't because I'll guarantee it will hurt! :)

If anyone else wants one then drop me a PM - got a small list coming together at the moment! Not be long for those who have asked - lazers cutting as we speak!
