ive heard that putting a smaller box on my valver would give greater acceleration? ide never heard of it? would i get any gains from doing this?

yeah you would accelerate faster :P
but lose top end

i wouldnt be bothere about loosing the top speed as its not about how fast you can go, its how you get there.

would this acceleration be really noticeable or just a slight gain

recently put a 1.4 box in my mates valver. no noticeable effect in 1st & 2nd imo. 3rd felt slower..

Depends on the box number.

Theres one which has way better ratios...was fitted to 1.4 sports IIRC and some 1.2s.

JB1053 rings a bell but cant remember exactly.

is this the box that will givew me a noticeable aceleration gain, any 1.2 box off a mk1 do??

same build strength as a valver box, circlips and cheese so wud last just as long i would of thought, its only the willy box thats got a bit of strength to it i think!
