hello all

Ive been offered a polished and ported and gas flowed 16v cylinder head for £200 its all be reconditioned and had the valves lapped it etc, when I asked to what extent it had been done the guy replyed stage 3 as it was going to be used for a renault race series.

does this sound any good, they are still std sized valves.

nathan.

what sort of money does this sort of work cost (stage 3)

stage one is port and polish. stage two is stage one and larger inlets. stage three is stage two and larger exhaust valves as i rule.

so i can,t see it being stage three and standard valves so alarm bells are ringing.

also i would only ever buy a head from three or four tuners so unless he can tell you who did the work i would walk away

its toovey race engines in the west midlands.

got my info wrong, this is an email i got:

hi nathan the head was origanily done for a hot- hatch saloon seiries which in 2003 finished due to sponsors pulling out. has been flowed to the best it can be to suit the standard valves which was all that could be done in the formula due to rules and regulations.i have no flow data mate.
regards.

might be all right then. seems to make sense as a lot of race series won,t allow big valve heads.

i take it this would go well with cams. what sort of power would this combination produce on an F7R. does £200 sound quite reasonable as i know this sort of work is £500+

just done a quick search for the company: John Toovey road and race engines, they seem to have a good name in motorsport and seem like a very repitable company. could be £200 well spent.

really depends on the work thats been done....

£200 is cheap....could be worth it
