Looking at getting an R19 mount but dont exactly know what makes it so special. I know it redueces engine movement thus less wear etc but why?

Also does anybody have any pics ov a standard valver/willy item and a R19 one to show the difference?

Cheers Bailey

Its installed to hide the fact all the other mounts are ****ed and your too cheap to get 3 new mounts from Renault and have it like its supposed to be

The way renault used to mount engines was from underneath, 2 at the front one on either side and one at the back in the middle. All onto the subframe. Whereas the clio now has 2 hangers which are more in the centre of the engine and a dogbone down low. When the mounts are shagged the engine is likely to rock because of the positioning. Put an R19 mount upfront and it stops a certain amount of that.

The cup cars used to run the additional R19 mount to reduce engine movement.

As mentioned many times, the three "Sub"frame style engine/gearbox mountings, really do hold the power train ~~~ Literally no movement at all.Hence the GRp "A" deritives used on the rally cars,On a competition car noise/vibration is a trade off, also the fact that most of the shells are seam welded, with the cages welded to strategic pick up points helps/stops any cracking around the windscreens,or other weak(er) points of the shell. On a standard road car, this can be a problem,as ~~ you stop movement in the power train, but all the vibration .travels to the next weakest area,windscreen/sunroof apertures, strut tops.
For those old enough to remember Escort Mk I & II in rallying, the first mod to strengthen the shell was to gusset the area between the bulkhead and the chassis rails,to prevent cracking.

In all honesty it does not happen overnight  ~~ but a gradual process.

i fitted all new mounts onto my williams(and they was positioned correctly) before i fitted a r19 mount and they still snapped as there shite! been running a R19 mount on ever since..

the 172/182s run virtually the same mounts as the williams but also have the 'R19' mount aswell as std
