View Full Version : My Renault Clio 16v Turbo

Let me describe my tuning project Renault Clio 1.8 16v 1992

This car is comming up with uprated parts from the factory
The 1.8 (F7P) is promising for turbo conversion

Here is the conrod and the piston which is 1 mm cut off from it's forehead.

Here is an advatnage of this engine. The little oil nozzle which is cooling the pistons.

I've made a custom exhaust manifold (for IHI turbo in the beginning), then for garret GT28R (T25 flange)

Here is my first turbo compressor:

I used aluminium covered 55 mm pipes for my turbo paths and samco silicon hoses.

The intercooler is from audi a6.

The clutch is making the power...

I've bought a Sachs Racing clutch kit

My plan is the car to run at 1.5 bar boost. That means - bigger injectors. In my case Bosch 803 (400cc)

I decided to use the factury ECU after I tested MegaSquirt on my car and also bought MPX4250 map sensor

I've also bought an XRD display unit which can diagnose R21 Turbo,Clio 16v, R19 16v realtime via ODB.

It shows the following:

Revolutions / minute
Manifold air pressure
Coolant temperature
Intake air temperature
Throttle position sensor percentage %
Battery voltage
Vehicle speed
Idle air control valve percentage opening %
Ignition advance in degrees
Knock correction in degrees
Knock signal from knocksensor
Duty injection time
Injection time in us or ms
Lambda voltage in millivolt
Mixture correction

I converted the car myself last year at May with IHI turbo and 1 bar max boost (map sensor from R21 turbo and bosch 802 injectors from R21 turbo). This winter I repaired the engine and bought the bigger injectors, custom 1.5 bar boost chip from fastchip. I also mount an oil cooler from bmw 325i. I also tried to drive with MegaSquirt ecu before, but there was a problem with the flywheel decoder. Now i know how to configure the MegaSquirt but I preffer to use my stock ecu. The car is on the road now. I remaked the exhaust manifold to fit the garret gt28r turbo. Currently i'm preparing my car for painting (white pearl), I'm also looking for a new wiring loom. When I paint the car I will post fresh pictures :)

will run 220bhp on standard compression 250 to 300 on low compression with a t28

his manifold is different tho man to ours, turbo sits on top of it higher up, and it looks longer that mani n all so pushes it even closer to bulkhead

I think he already had one looking at the first pictures, its just been replaced with a much larger much much more visible version :shock:
