F4R has VVC and has higher lift Cams.
F7R has more low down torque because of its longer stroke.

Loads more things because they are completly different engines but they are the main differences.

longer stroke?

I thought the F7R had a longer stroke than the F4R? :?

Its completely different.

Before anyone asks you cant use an F3R with a 16v head as the waterways are all in the wrong places/pistons don't have cutouts etc.

page 3, F3R 8v from a laguna is used for a hybrid, he machines the pistons down to the same hight as F7R items, 16v head on it aswell.

diffinatly looks the same as a F7R block.

he's used an F3R crank and machined pistons in a F7P bottom end from what i can work out

what would be the benifit from that? I did a translation and found out the F3R is a 2 litre engine used in the laguna, but he then goes on to say its now an F7R after fitting the machined F3R pistons, but surely the crank/rods would be different to an F7R.

The block looks identical to a F7R and the 16v head fits on it too, im only asking all these questions as im wanting to hybrid myself and this could be another alternative.

im lost now

as stated above though, the F3R Bottom end won't mate with the 16v head, it looks like he's made the crank and pistons fit the 16v bottom end to create a 2.0 bottom end.

so if I manage to get an empty F3R bottom
can I use F7R parts on it to create a 2.0 Bottom without any problem?

no, did you not read my post above ? the F3R WON'T mate up to a 16v head

If you're think of doing what this chap did theres no point.

Real 2ltr 16v BE's are in plentiful supply and the costs of machining and F3R component based hybrid would be astromical.

I'd suspect he only went the way did as he can't get 16vs. IIRC F7R/P don't meet TUV approval for emmisions in Germany etc?
