best is a 2 stage job:
1) prep with halfords bumper prep spray
2) spray with halfords bumper spray black

Think ur right m8...cos i used the plastokote stuff on the cuttle on the hybrid and within a year it had peeled, so i suppose u need some kind of prep/primer.
yeah id prep first.
we are doing my g/f's bumpstrips at the moment, and the process we are doing is :
1)sand to rough surface
2)use a bumper prep to clear surface of any residue or polish etc
3)use plastic primer - allows surface to flex slightly
4)any spray paint desired
5)laquer - wont be needed on scuttle id doubt

I just gave mine a wash and gave them a coating of Halfords;
Satin Black
Came up a treat and still holding out very well. I didnt do any prep.
I used SATIN on wipers and scuttle and MATT BLACK on bumper strips and inserts. All halfords own versions.
I Just used Black Hammerite.. Looks 10x Better :D
