im just getting over a very heavy cold and its made one of my ears go all funny, and makes hearing in that ear hard... all it needs is to be popped and all should be ok again. any suggestions?

I used to do that tobi, but I try and avoid it now as the last time I did a few times when I had a cold and my ear went all funny for a while and kept popping randomly, lol.

Hot shower (as hot as you can tolerate) on the side of your head/neck thats blocked, then try popping you ears.

this is gonna sound really stupid but sometimes when my ears have poped, yawning makes its go away

swallow or yawn, yawn is better

all it is is cold has blocked up your eustacian tubes that connect inner ear to the atmosphere, as such air cannot pass and the pressure difference causes the muffled sound. by yawning or swallowing you stretch/move the eustacian tube manually and force air in or out, causing the pressure gap to equlibriate and low tho canst hear once more!
