View Full Version : Traction Problems lol
Took may hybrid to ATS this morning to have the tracking and De cat fitted. This is the first proper drive/thrash I have had in the beast.
1st gear just wants to spin, and second as well lol, alot different from the un-spin happy 1.8.
Anyone else have traction problems, I think I need to learn some throttle control. lol
Can't weight to throw it round some corners later on and test out the wide track with 15" and Exalto's
Cheers
A very happy Winston :D

Maybe those engine swap pics were photoshopped and really hes still running a 1.8?

Photoshop
So guys, if you going about 15mph and you put the power down yours will spin as well? fooking cool.....shows how shit the 1.8 is lol

On dry roads, my car mostly grips and go from rolling starts - even at quite high rpms. I find the traction out of slow corners one of it's more enjoyable aspects and don't have much problem powering down on exits. Are you running with signifiicantly higher power/torque outputs?
Thanks for the straight answer. thats what i was looking for.
Standard power (i think) but it is stripped out. I have also removed the P/S steering tho??
A standard Williams should not be able to break traction (in the dry) as easily as you described. I don't have any experience with modded 16v to Williams projects. But if the engine output is similar to the Williams, my guess would be to check the front geometry, suspension and/or tyres. The others guys here may be more helpful.
be careful what you say about 1.8's pal some of us still have them, and think there fast enough!!!
Then why do you want a 2.0L as well lol

Thing is, it can be a nasty job, having to lie on your back and the nuts are normally siezed solid.
Unless i know the nuts are loose i let a garage do mine too!
At least until i get my own lift.
Mat.
mine only wheel spins when its slrightly damp, 90% of time its got traction, brilliant for powering on just as u exit a bend!
will have to see how it runs once its back together later
i agree its a bad job. Just ask the jesus about the state i got in when i worked on his cat lol.
Ive done a fair few and non have gone well. Unless new bolts were used then its 30mins work.

Yeah i get traction problems from my Jefferey Wests. Quality shoes though, even if i look a ywat every now and then slipping over.
Yeah, I found that the valver is more willing to wheel spin since the PAS has gone...probably due to the lighter front-end as well as the extra power. That rack and assosiated bits weighed quite a lot...

I'm getting severe traction trouble at the mo. Got beat to 30 by a Mini One yesterday. I took it easy as I set off but then it all went to shit when it got over 4k.
You said you would weigh them for me please :D
Errr.....it's on the list...
Loads better now I have had the tracking done. but you still have to use first gear with caution.
At a guess the manual set up will weigh 50% less, if not less than P/S set up.
