can you cancel a cheque if you have the persons name and address?

look into your cheque book at the stub. note the number and ring your bank to cancel it! job done

I think there is a legal issue around this ie that you cant easily cancel a cheque unless the person you gave the cheque to mis represented themselves, their service etc

might be wrong though . . ..

Usually they do charge for cancelling cheques.

The only cheques there is a legal issue is cancelling counter/bankers drafts to third partys as then the bank has misrepresented itself by guaranteeing payment, put personal cheques can be cancelled wherever and whenever.
