I have a Starter motor off a Williams 1, that was been broken. It had done about 50,000 miles.
I wanted it for my Williams, but found that there were 2 types for the williams 1 and I needed the other type.
Anyway, if you are interested it's on ebay

That is a 16v starter not a williams.
It will not fit a williams.

So how cums a williams/megane starter motor will fit a 16v but a 16v won't fit a williams...? ( just curious ) :?:

The williams has strengthening veins on the block which require a smaller starter, the 16v doesn't have these so either will fit.

Thanks for the warbings, but it does turn out that this starter motor IS from a Williams.
The part code is Valeo D9E 138
I put 'Valeo D9E 138 renault clio' into google and I get confirmation that this Starter motor is for a WILLIAMS.
See http://krc.vpi.pl/KRC/turbo/porady/silniki/SilnikF7R700.pdf

Thanks anyway, it is best to be sure
