View Full Version : I need a bolt!! Pics inside
Noticed whilst taking my engine out at the weekend that the stabiliser bar, that was connected to the dogbone mount, was not connected to the bottom of the gearbox!!
I need the bolt in order to connect it up.
Here's a couple of pics of the bolt hole, near the gear selector/below the drivers side driveshaft:

Does anyone have the correct bolt in their box of goodies, or know where i can get one?
Bet renault don't sell one seperately!

Thankyou please! :P
You are officially a life-saver.
Is there anything you need i might have? Unlikely but worth a shot, i'd prefer a trade than a steal!

There should be at least 2 bolts mate! the one you've arrowed is the lower one, then the upper part of the bracket is higher up the box and has another bolt! Just did this bracket 3 hrs ago... someone correct me if im wrong?
I don't think so?
The bar i've got only has one bolt hold at one end, then another bolt hole at the other which is connected to the dogbone! Woof!

o ok mine was more of a bracket? maybe its different then... but surely if it only bolts to the box with 1 bolt its gonna swivel when the gbox swings back?

:? none of those should connect to the dogbone. The bracketry for the dogbone goes over the top of the diff around the speedo cable..
all of those shot are from below and i can't see how the dogbone mount is attached to them. All hats missing is merely a bolt that holds on the gearbox to the engine block

 re-reading that i don't understands what the stabiliser bar is. my 16v doesn't have one :?
williams fitment only i think.
It's a williams engine with williams gearbox.
When i was under the car the bar coming from the dogbone was lined up perfectly with that hole, but had no bolt, so i assumed thats where it bolted up to. Maybe i'm wrong?
Anyone in the know? lol
I'm confused now!!
Here's mine fitted on the Williams for your reference.

Yeah thats the one!
Does that bolt up to the bolt hole in my pic?
Just in case you need some clarification of what is needed:
The bracket marked in green is all you need. I found on mine that the 2 bolts holding that bracket in place were also very loose, and a nightmare to try and do up tightly.

Get someone on the top with a 16mm spanner on one side of the bolt, jack the car and get under with a ratchet+16mm socket on the other side, bobs ure uncle ;)
I'll make sure the bolts are tight on mine when the engine is out, far easier!
Use some locktight or decent spring washers :D
