Basically as long as its held down really tight, and has a rigid lip on the front edge it should pose no problems.
Beast!!! stew!! :)
Any with the bonnet open to see where you have placed your pins ...how did you line up the holes on the bonnet
nope, but can get some.
basically, fitted the front pins in the front just infront of the seal, in that bit of metal. the rear ones are in the scuttle, just right at the edge to make sure they are into the metal.
fit the underneath bit first (the pin if you like), then place the bonnet on, and try and mark where the catches need to go. then after a little fettling it should sit ok.
prob well difficult to get it spot on.
providing my rad in the way..i plan to have two sticking out front-wards from like either said of the renault badge (nearer the edges obviously), and two towards the rear as above.
pin it to the hinges as well....that way air shouldnt get underneath it eh martin lol
Soon non-flush bonnet pins will be illegal. Look to somewhere like Abbey Motorsport for ones that are flush plastic and look a lot better than metal pins ever have.

you mean the AEROCATH ones?
Any idea when the new law comes into play

Sorry I don't know.. but if you phone Abbey Motorsport on +44 (0)1883 732331 I'm sure they could tell you (I am not affliated with Abbey in ANY way at all and have never used them. I just know that is a place you can get the flush bonnet pins/locks).
Matthew
illegal  :(
Cheers for the info :)
Not heard about the legality of the old style pins yet but i have only just bought 6 new shiny blue ones for when i fit the fibreglass bonnet.
As i only go on the road say (predicited 200 miles a year) im not bothering with the flashy expensive aero ones.
It must have something to do with the MOT and SVA type arrpoval as i had a nightmare registering one of my westfields when it was built new, you have to make sure everything is to a certain radius and no sharp bits that would harm pedestrians if there daft enough to jump into the front of the car.
I can't prove it's gonna be the law, just what I was told *pinch of salt*, so I could be wrong. They do LOOK a lot better and it is easy to see them being safer. I have no idea of the cost though, as they are new, and regular pins have been around for decades.
matthew
there about 29 each
so im sticking to old skool ones as i would need 4 :D
£29 each... ouch!
(prob what a pedestrian would say if you ever got to test them as well)
