Last night I got talking to a lad who had an orange 16v and we ended up going for a little rip on my private road 8) He was running a 16v 1.8 lump with a high rev limit 7.800rpm i do believe. We did a rolling start at 45mph in 2nd and stopped at 80mph. I started on his bumper on the right hand lane as things didnt go to plan but I caught up with him by the end of second and went into third with my poo rev limiter 6.500rpm. Every damn time i starting pulling away I had to change gear by the time I was at 80mph, I had only made a car length on him  my exact thoughts were wtf. Does this normally happen lol

pwned! 6.5k limit sucks first thing you do is up it to 7100!

Depends how brave you are lol Nana is on 7300/7400 ....power tends to drop quite a bit after 7k though imo

whats the danger point? I thought 7400 was the boundry

depends who you talk to.....mine revs to 7300 thats enough for me!

Can't see you needing more than 7100 to be honest - I fancy a remap soon as is but with a raised limiter

lol nana is ace, definitly my fav hybrid by far....

well, this is going to sound really stupid now but....I had a 16v decat while running a williams manifold and downpipe and obviously it didnt line up properly and was blowing. I just fitted my Ktec unsilenced pipe which no longer blows and I swear down its not just me, it actually pulls better? It gives another kick at about 5,000rpm?

How did you manage to get the decat even close to the willy downpipe, i thought the flanges were 90 degrees out?

Mines at 7.4k but 99% of the time I still change at 6.5k, maybe a bit extra when I'm chasing them Caterfields.......oh and Jesus

you'll need more than 7'400rpm if I start stripping mine out sonny jim! ;) lol

what does the power peak at in a willy??

I know mine peaks at just before 7, I've never hit the limiter other than in mistake during wheel spinnage.

Well, if the information on this fine site is anything to go by (!), then peak power on a standard Williams is 6,100rpm. Supposedly it's better to be just above rather than below peak power, so I guess the 6600rpm limiter is about right.

When I had my HP (off-the-shelf) ECU it did seem a little strained revving to 7100rpm, but that could just be me being a pansy.

nah doubt it Matt, it's probably the fact it just increases the limiter and nothing else from what I can gather... my Willy was miles faster on standard ECU... in fact it was identical to 2 lives in full on 14.0 spec when he had Gunner in the car... not been impressed with an off shelf chip in my life bar turbo motors

Yeah, I didn't really notice a difference speed-wise. Was just saying that it didn't really feel like the engine actually wanted to rev much past 6600 anyway. Always winced slightly when it got past 7000.

Mine hits the redline at 8.5k standard, but then mine probably doesnt count :(

I am running different flows and perameters now my peak hp / torque curves have been changed and only does power start off at 3,000rpm and really come in at above 4.000rpm. Craig is setting the verniers up tomorrow so this may change but it seems to pull hard into the limiter atm. I guess the truth will speak out when my little valliams is on the rollers aye ;)

rollers doesn't tell the full story though mate, get it up against another hybrid that's a known quickun and that's the best performance indicator imo

I agree about the of the self...apart from mine when it originally had the rsport ecu on...that worked a treat on my Cup!

Tbh, i dont know how normal 1.6s like VTS, 106gtis keep up, if i didnt have my 8.5k rev limit i reckon with the added weight of my car id be ruined if it had a normal limit!

Im not sure when the power starts to drop though? Wouldnt see the point of it revving that high standard if the power drops earlier than that.
