View Full Version : steering column play, but already welded?
ok so todays job was to weld the steering column as it has the usaul 'go where it wants' play, pulled back the rubber and theres already a weld there, one either side of it, not all the way round, so does this mean its not the column?
Whats the cause!?
check it for play anyway, if its not welded much they can break again. if its definatly not column, open bonnet and get a mate to turn lock to lock and look for play/movement in the rack tself, the mounts on the subframe can go and cause play

Yeah, as said, if the welds on the column are fine it will be play in the rack or bottom balljoints.
