Hi all,
I was just wondering if anyone had seen or heard of people using laptops to reprogram the ECU themselfes, after getting it rechipped.
So oh i need more rev, then pull up type in some numbers etc then go again.
What tools would be needed to do this.
Im going to have a flick through some wiring diagrams tonight.
Would be kinda cool mod to do.

the only way you can do it on a willy is with the fast chip kit,..although it doesnt enable real time adjustment.
thought bb now did a different programmable system

can you elaborate on that
the hardware is the easy bit...unless you have a full understanding of engine calibration, and the appropraiate measuring equipment to go with it, I would leave it well alone as will do more harm to performance then good.

see i hate paying other people to do work for me, would rather learn how to DIY it.
So i was wondering could i DIY the ECU, or do i need to invest loadso n a fancy programming device.
Could i reprogram my 1.4ECU?

Its not just learning the DIY side of things ..as in the practical application of adjusting fuelling/ign...its having a solid understanding of HOW you are changing combustion/performance, and WHY its doing what its doing from what you are changing.

maybe me fitting one of these could allow me to RR the car and get someone clever to tweak it.
Im intending to change things as i go, so im having issues with justifying all the money for remapping (for example)
getting exhaust.. remap.. cams.. remap.. gasflowing remap..
as i understand things i would have to pay £250 each time to get the ECu altered!
