Anyone on here have much knowledge about sat nav? My mum is getting my old man a sat nav unit for christmas so I've been asked to find out which is best, looking at ones up to £200.

Looks to be one of:

TomTom One -£185.90
Garmin Nuvi 300 - £189.99
Garmin c510 - £149.99

Anyone have any suggestions from experience as to which is best?

Thanks.

I have the garmin nuvi 310d and its wicked. comes with the traffic information receiver, maps for the whole of europe and a leather case. I have seen it online for £220 or something (I paid £300 in halfrauds.....)

Also you need to make sure you get one with sirf star 3 as they are much more sensitive and dont lose the signal as easily.

Besides, I picked up a pilots magazine and they all seemed to be using garmin products for navigation......so if its good enough for them!

Further to that though if you must get one for under £200, the tom tom one v2 is nice, it has a bright screen and is well constructed but you really need a case for something llike this and it doesn't come with one.
A decent one would set you back £30........

Have you considered the Navman F20 & N20 as can also get speed camera add on which is taken from the same database that road pilot use.

i've got the N20, shows speed cameras etc and makes ghey noises at you to warn... set it to tell me when I go over 120mph and avoid Ferry routes too, always useful... dont want to end up in France god forbid
