Depends on the rest of the body work and major components like suspension etc....that would cost a bit to replace too. If it has no rust on arches etc then it would be worth getting the engine re-built.

Its going to sound a little rattly, specially at this cold time of year, just drive it till it goes pop :D
personally i'd forget about option 3, then either rebuild your current engine, depending on the rest of the car, ie, have you spent a lot on modding it, suspension/brakes etc? or whack another williams lump in it with lower miles, or if the cars generally shagged then flog it and get another :D
Hi Holl, get a fiesta turbo,a lot better car.

When was the last oil change? It's probably dirty oil coupled with winter starting ups.
Try this. Put in a cheaper grade of engine oil (expensive ones will work but you will just be wasting money), run the car hard for a few days. Then replace the oil with a better and thinner grade (eg: 0w40) and see if the problem gets any better. Don't forget to replace the oil filter for both times.

Probably needs a good service? Is it only noisy on the cold mornings or all the time, even when the engine is warm?

Based on that theres no real point in swapping the car at all, just spoil the car and spend some cash on it :D
yeah best to keep what you have as you know the faults and get it sorted
If it only does it when its cold could just be a tappet and nothing to worry about holl.
sounding rough and being a cause for cocern are two different matters. if you love it, wait till it blows and rebuild it or if your not to keen, get rid.
Nothing wrong with a car that taps a bit from cold.. could try putting some thinner oil in (5W 40 as oppose to 10W 40) to help the oil get around the engine a bit quicker?
