renault badge?
gold renault badge?
gold w?
gold speedline? (my favourite).
whats it going to be??
(for those not in the know)
internet explorer 7 now has mini icons next to web address's
per chance it is trying to catch up with a certain other browser?!
i'd go with a blue 'W' outlines in white like on the forum title itself on a small round circular background! 8)
in the address bar?
This has been a feature of many browsers for years. Favicon.ico.
By the way, we do already have a favicon... just it's sitting in the wrong directory on the server at the moment.
It's a single gold alloy.
out of interest how are these done?

Magic :D
any paint package, create a 16x16 image, save as windows bmp format.
Then you have to get a converter and convert it to .ico format.
name it favicon.ico and place in the root web folder.
tryed to do one - the gold wheel.
But i couldnt get it to work.
Summeh - permission to sort it granted !
iv done a 'W' too for the new site at some point.
:D - something to look forward to !

So how would I convert it to .ico?
just save is, then rename it in windows. but make sure in your file options you have 'hide known file extensions' unchecked!
or you can use a website to upload your image and it allows you to download the icon from them. google 'favicon' :D
meant to say save it not is
wheres the bloody edit button gone...?
I reckon a blue 'W' with a gold outline like you would see it on a car, but if possibly make it a rotating 3d object
^^ thats what iv done. (but not rotating, but it could be done)
nice Craig! Reckon that would look sweet if it rotated!!! :D
and where in my server to i save it craig?
anywhere, but i use the images folder.
then in your header you want the following (but modified to your preferences):
<link rel="shortcut icon" href="images/favicon.ico"/>
no need for any html code... most browsers check /favicon.ico by default. and if you check your error logs it will most likely be full of 404 errors from browsers trying to access it here. So may aswell stick it in the root.
Having said that, the code will cover other browsers that don't want to play nice.
anyone know where i can get the convertor??
i think you can simply rename a .bmp to .ico.
