as far as i know insurance - falls upon the vehicle that is towing. I would tell them u are trailering like i do.

I think if the car you are towing has all four wheels on the ground it needs tax/mot/insurance but if you are using a dolly it is classed as a trailer so not needed, comes under the towing vehicle.

But i also heard a while ago that dollies are no longer legal, how true this is i don't know as i still see them being used.

Oh you can't dolly rwd autos unless you take the prop off which doesn't count here but may be useful in future.

Plattsy

i can get a trailor but a dolly is free/cheaper :) so its perfectly legal to use a dolly if the car has no tax or test or insurance?

LMAO i just spat out my tee at that....

so many people make that mistake. its like when you take it for an MOT ive heard off a few people putting them on the brake test mashine and it goes pop

i wonder how they do test 4wd cars!! must be a sepcial 4x4 or do they just jack up the front

also it would take ages to tow it. and 4x4 will take more effort /petrol to pull than a 2wd.

by the way on a std car licence you can only tow up to 750kg so you won't be able to tow it unless you have had yoUr license for aggggggggges
1989 or summit stupid. Plus im not sure if you can drive a 7.5tone truck on a std licence. worth checking with the dvla.

You can tow it on a fixed bar or a tow rope. What you can't do is tow it on a dolly where the front wheels are raised off the ground and the rear ones are rotating at the speed of the towing car since the car will either climb off the dolly or it will damage the centre diff.
