I've driven an EK9 Type R (same as the pic you've posted but in white).

Definitely a very fun and capable car but it does need caning...there is NOTHING at the bottom end! It's the epitome of VTEC! 182 bhp from a 1.6 isn't to be sniffed at though 8)

you want the 1.6vtec vti or the 1.6typer vtec.

both not bad cars like. love to be rev'd.

The VTi's aren't bad...definitely a sleeper though.

The EK9 CTR's are imports only...seem a bit overpriced when you sit one next to a DC2 as well

hmmmm i love the looks of them...

plus 120bhp for a 17year old will be plenty enough for me hehe.

anyone have experience with the 1.5VTEC?

Sam

Make sure its a v-tec model if you get one. They sound awesome and rev their tits off! Not had any experience of the 1.5 but my mates got a Civic Jordan which is the 1.6 vti (i think). As mentioned above, it doesnt seem to have a lot in the lower revs but when the v-tec kicks in it shifts pretty well Nice looking cars aswell imo.

Mate I know how much you want a 'quick' car at 17, but trust me, you're better off getting an old run around, building up your noclaims, not taking any depreciation hit, and saving for something really nice when you're 21 8)

i have allready owned a clio... it was pretty quick.

and i know it is important to get building up no claims, but at this age, i want to be having fun!!

Civic VTEC baby!!! :P

haha - RT being quick! :? Quicker than the bus i suppose! :P

*runs and hides*

civic seems like a good choice, just take care of it and yourself! 8)

haha... i dont mean it was quickkk, but it was quick for what it was... upset VTR's and mates Zetecs etc...

really looking forward to getting one of these civics now :)

I got my Del Sol SIR at 18, SiR is the Import VTi it comes with 10 more bhp standard.

Dont do it. Hondas are nearly the worst car for young drivers to insure.

Yes I left clios for my VTEC addiction, but will be getting another clio...

Theres nothing like my Tanabe System VTECing through a tunnel i tell you that for nothing. :D

i checked up on insurance on the 1.5 VTEC matey, on my mums policy like i was on the clio, its only a coupl'a hundred more... 680 for the clio, and 919.00 for the civic!

:D

How much to insure an RSi

IMO the 1.5 sucks ...get a proper VTEC :P

samboRT

i can get insured on the RSi for roughly the same... roughtly the same performance... i just fancy something jap!! :)

plus.. i want to rev to 8k

1.5's dont have that much poke to them tbh, my mates got one, not all that impressed tbh

samboRT

hmmm, its really all i can afford insurance wise.

they should have enough poke in them for me, as long as it is a step up from my old clio

a few lads on the civic sports club have done little breather mods, uprate panel filter, straight through zaust, decat and got 135bhp on the rollers!!

:P

but that'll cost you more on insurance,

if you gonna mod, then you might aswell insure a standard valver or something

samboRT
16-11-2006, 13:51
hmm. i just want something different.

straight through exhaust would be the only mod, you would not need to declare a panel filter...

saying that it would be slammed, with some ROTA's on it but...

1.6 Single cam VTEC only just rev to 8k iirc.

Mine revs to 8500 and mines top spec in del sol range, 1.6 twin cam sir, 170bhp.

1.5s only rev to 6*** something. And are NOT very quick. :P
