Lotus
Ferrari
Nyk, the little horsey is a bit of a giveaway :) I guess a mid-engined V8 'rari from early-mid nineties. Not big on car-spotting, so have no idea which model it's from.
Second one's a sunbeam lotus, no other car that ugly would have so many webers :)
hehe.....my pc bein gay as fuk..... cant zoom in on any of the pics.......so dint see the wee horsey
And Purple takes the lead......
Lotus Sunbeam
Ferrari F40
Well done lads.
No 2- E30 M3
Carbon inlet manifold
In either E23 or E30 shell
It's an E30 with the S14 M3 engine. So I guess it's an E30 M3!
No 4 -Straight 6 BMW looks like E36 M3
Nope, it’s an E34 M5 with S38.
Though M5 was V8, unless you've cut half the pic off, but an E46 is an M3 not an M5 and they both share the same engine.
The E34 M5 used a 3.6 and 3.8 straight-six, the E39 M5 used a 4.0 litre V8.
The straight-six in the E36 M3 is 3 or 3.2 litre, and not the same as the E34 M5 lump
E36 straight 6 in E30 shells
Nope, that’s just two E34 M5s with S38 straight-sixes
Come on you engine guru's, am I the only one that knows these??!!!
Or perhaps we weren't in!
Winston confirmed my findings, so check with the game master.
I'm not good on BMW's.
Which road-going model was this was first use in?
Only one I can think of would be the E23 745i?
Not the plain vanilla version. The M version. Quite a rare car.
Not ever heard of it! Tis a completely different engine to the normal (12 valve) 745i, but that's the only petrol turbo BM I know of apart from the 2002 and the new 'uns :?
M1 was the first to use this engine. 276bhp. Only about 400 M1 slated for production but I think it was even less than that in the end.
That one looks like it's got an actuator on the top though :?
That one looks like it's got an actuator on the top though :?
Must admit the plumbing on top looks odd. I think only the race-going M1 had turbo though. Had a poster of the car when it was first out. Not very fast and a bit boring looking but it was the grand-daddy that started the whole M series craze with BMW.

I think they did a prototype turbo that was basically an M1, but that pic must be from a turbo race car.
Surely the E9 CSL was the start of BMW Motorsport road cars 8)
Enough with the Beemer abbreviations, I am getting a headache, Zollo :)
Here's an easy model to guess. If only it did not rain so much here.
Zollo you BM geak ......welcome to the game lol
Could only to catch you out on

Rolls Royce is my lame guess!
Zollo is most impressive as he has mentioned engine codes.......naming cars is lame ;)
BDA is more likely to be a BDT as its output is facing forward ala RS200 and the compressor outlet is facing the roof where the intercooler on the RS200 was.
the bike engine is a 2003 GSXR-1000, and that car was previously meant to be using a kawazaki
lotus is the vaux slant 4 (s-4) with lotus head and upped to 2.2.
Why has nobody noticed that the 'turbo' 911 has trumpets and no plenum?
And not seen anybody mention the supercharger on the clio!
Come on lads!

These are all majoryly iconic engines........so no excuses for being 'old'.
Completely cheated with the help of Google...
First - BRM H16 (guess was a Porsche flat-eight - didn't spot the cylinders underneath!)
Second - Cisitalia Porsche 360 1493cc supercharged V12 (guess was a Ferrari 1.5-litre)
Third - Coventry Climax V8 F1 (Didn't have a clue!)
Fourth - Erm...
Fifth - Audi five-cylinder with a whopping chargecooler?
Sixth - Er...
Seventh - Yeah...
Eight - BMC A-series
Second last one with the gold paint, is that a 4AGE with beltings removed?
Aaaaaah.... it says TOYOTA on that second to last engine! I spent ages trying to work that one out
:) Makes you wonder what sort of rain-catcher they have on the car's hood with those 4 throats points up like that.
I didn't have a clue ....just sat back and droooooooooooled lol
how the hell did you google those engine zollo? Is pecifically changed the file numbers and blanked out all writing! lol
First 3 you've got right!!!! And i thought they would be the hardest!
4. Nissan Sr16 vvl, they bought the rights to use VTEC! off honda for a limited run. I thought the vtec assembly might give it away.
5. Renault 5 turbo 2 maxi engine!!!!
6. S2000 (F20C) cylinder head
7. 152E TRD 2000cc, upto 330bhp.
8. toyota 3k 1300cc and upto 160bhp.
Basically, then, I'm good with google but crap without it
PS. Number 7 - 330bhp
Bump for Lee
I'll be back tomorrow

thats not a turbo actuator tho, wrong side of the engine fellas, dont see a turbo attached to that exhaust manifold.
Must be just out of shot...or something....
The mightiest car ever built by man. Only the brave could harness this beast! Guess!
Nova SR on Twin 40's :D ....memorys, minus the carbs lol

(1) C20XE Opel Red Top 2lt 16v - with cams, weber alpha throttle bodies, and T34 turbo. In what looks like Opel manta shell.
(2) Not enough on pic to tell but obviously turbo'd.
(3) Ford CVH supercharged and turbo'd in the back of a Mk1 Fiesta.
(4) Think it may be a Reliant Scimitar.
(5) Again not enough on pic to determine, not so good with modern engines
1 and 3 correct, 2 hillman imp lump turboed!, 4 is a ferrari v12.
Another pic of last one, and a hint... its not a modern engine- i love it when i get one of these to work on at work!

Audi 5 cylinder
Matt
Aha it is a Simca innit? I just read the air filter!
As above its actually a turbo charged Hillman Imp engine! The engines were in the back of those too.
And yes its a 20v turbo from the later UR coupe quattro and the S2/RS2, now thats a proper 20v engine- none of this 5v per cylinder stuff here!
