View Full Version : williams 1 #260 (L40 AJT)
anyone know any info on the past this car???
might possibly be buying it in about 3 hours time
need a quick response if anyone knows anything
thanks
There's no info on it in the williams register sorry mate
Ask King Stromba on F7Power
i might aswell risk it, getting it cheap enough
only thing worrying me at minute is the fan is on a manuel switch
headgasket is ok though so must be fan sensor???
its mot'd so must be half decent lol
nothing wrong with the fan being on a manual switch, just means you can cut it in whenever you feel like it
unless you forget o cut it in one day in traffic!!!! :o
probally a corroded wire somewhere and they fitted a manual swtich as they couldnt fix the original one.
Whats the price ? they seam to be very cheap at the moment.
Prices have dropped alot this year.
dont re allywanna disclose yet cause it'll probably be up for sale here in a couple of weeks :P
looking at about 400 plus the 306 xsi in a swap deal i think

I want a williams :(
everyone knows what you do mate - and if im not mistaken your other one sold quick on here
thought u were staying away from williamsclio's matt ???
once u go clio you never go back??
dam! what rymes with clio and means 'back'???????? :?
Why are they so cheap at the mo, thought they would appreciate in price as they become rarer, can't be many willy 1's left now.... :?
dont see many willys for sale over 2.5k anymore
They are getting old now mate, falling into the wrong hands and being run in the ground. Alot will be coming upfor sale with stupid spoilers on and chrome windscreen wipers lol
Most of the good ones are still out there and looked after acordingly. But its the way it goes.
They will get so cheap and most will end up trashed - then all of a sudden there will be non for sale and prices will rocket.
For example - u can pick up a very good williams 2 for £1500 that would of this time last year been knocking on the door of 3k.
dont see many willys for sale over 2.5k anymore
They are still there mate.
Trader has as a few and there was one for sale 4 months ago for 9k heehee

only an enthusiast will class a williams 1 special over 2 & 3
any average joe looking for a nippy hatch sees the 2 & 3's better than the one cuz of the extras
and most "enthusiasts" already own a williams 1
Dont agree with you there mate.
Any williams - 1, 2 or 3 will appeal to a true enthusiast if its in very good condition and special (milage, condition or history). Look at me - between me and our kid, we have one of each ! and a few more for when we are bored !
They are all rare cars.
Ok the ones are numbered - but the 3's only had 308 imported.
If NLRG had not of been recovered after being stolen - i would of looked for a 1 to replace it. But only because i would of liked to own the first of a run, after owning the last of a run.
But only because i would of liked to own the first of a run, after owning the last of a run
exactly, but only an enthusiast would know about the 1st of the run, to a normal non enthusiast they all look the same :?

But anyone who doesn't really know the difference wouldn't be prepared to pay out extra for gold wheels, so they wouldn't be buying the car in the first place.
To be honest, if my car's only worth £2k I won't ever bother selling it! I'm sure people are still willing to be £3-£4k on a very decent one?

:D
trashed ones are cheap any car goe the same
you can get a nackered porshe for peanuts but a good example will cost a packet
same with the williams ..give it 3 years and prices will boom
bag of shit!
a millions miles away from the one i sold dazorz other month
guy wanted 1300 cash buy it now if anyone wants a serious project!!
i think he would drop to £1000 as he seems desperate, i personally wouldntnt even swap the 306 for it which only stands me at £400
if anyone wants details on the bad points give me a pm or request and i'll post them up
apart from whats mentioned on the ebay ad
1. tracking/steering all over place
2. gearbox mount gone
3. idling all over place
4. water leak from the engine
5. brakes ****ed all round
6. badly refurbed alloys
7. hesitation top end (probably only plugs)
8. door would barely shut cause of damgaed hinge
9. idled at 700rpm on first start up and then 1300rpm after a good thrash???
stay well away

agree with wot ur syaing mate......to a certain extent
but as with most things, as wms jr says.....the true collector/enthusiast will put a 1 ahead of the 2s n 3s.
its all about the plaque...get a mint 1 and itl worth more than a 2 or 3 of same cond purely because of it.
think i mite stick one of mine in storage for a few years n run the other...hehe
im all good unless they were going to sell it uber cheap i would keep away from im

On Autotrader there is only one under £2400, Cars on Ebay never fetch as much as elsewhere.
Your still looking at £3k+ for a decent one, the cheap ones are cheap for a reason.
Mat.
^^^ Phew ^^^
:P
Fear not my friend your still in an elite club :D

The normal phrase of 'It's only worth as much as someone is willing to pay for it' doesn't really apply here as i, like many others i presume, have no intention of selling my williams, For this reason the £2.5k shopping list i have for the car this month is irrelevent.
When you manage to find a 'Mint' one you want to hang on to it, i have only ever seen one other 'Mint' Williams that i would buy to keep, Shame 2Live got there first! :P
