View Full Version : Tyre time...again!
What tyres we all running on here? Id like a nice comprimise between traction and wear rate. My car goes through tyres pretty quick as it is.
Obvious choice is Toyo, but they not too soft?

I had toyo proxes and ruined them in 3 months of road driving
I now have some avons on, dunno what model or whatever but they seem loads better. Like the tyre wall is stronger so it corners better 8)
My last set of tyres i used in 6 weeks. they are now on the minimum.
They were Kuhmos though

Just got rid of the leather interior and currently running a single RT seat.
I can now see why you boys strip your cars :P
ah yes, i remeber, the smartest clio mk1 i've seen, u git! :P
Not at the minute, single RT seat and doggy black R19 wheels.
I dont think so
Good things comes to those who wait
yeah but if i remeber the bay correctly it was just a tad on the tidy side! and am well into clean bays (as u may of noticed!! )
Kumho KU31.
A bit soft riding and less harsh than Goodyear eagle F1GSD2. Would much prefer F1 for the great wet performance and sharper handling but I can't seem to find them here anymore.

im ready for some new tyres, gonna give eagle f1s a whirl.just had them uniroyal rainsport on,dont get me wrong they grip well but now warm weather is here ish lol, they are just eatin away
Eagle F1s are pretty hard wearing. I've done Anglesey, Cadwell, Oulton a half day at Castle Combe and FCS on mine. Will switch sides (for the second time), do another track day and then that'll be them done. Not bad I don't think :)

How've you found the F1s on track Matt? Those ones I had one I had at Haynes last year and did Anglesey the other week. I wasn't impressed with them on track though as I thought they seemed to lose a lot of their grip when they got warm.
I was understeering at anglesey and the tail was sliding around like a good 'un at Brunters.
Fantastic tyres on the road though.
As I've not really tried anything else, it would be hard to comment on how they feel! I had 195s on for Haynes and Donnington, but they were F1s too. I suppose they do over-heat a bit, but everything seems to I guess!
Not sure what to go for next really. Wouldn't mind trying some Pirellis...

Well I still think those Firestone's are pretty FG for the track. They're standing up well to abuse in terms of wear and they seem to afford decent levels of grip when hot.
How bad is Cadwell on the tyres? School at Ty Croes seemed to be the killer for the left front. I was fine on the 2 left handers but school seemed to kill the left front thus rendering it understeery for all the right handers.
Cadwell isn't too bad at all from what I remember, because there's a good mix of lefts n rights.

You mean between GSD2 and 3? 2 are a more elaborate curvy v-shape. 3s are just straight cut v's.
Plus it says GSD2 or GSD3 on the side, I think.

Where!?!
Here you go. But frankly, it's much easier to tell by the flared V(GSD2) and the straight V(GSD3).
Vrestine Sporttrax 2's on both track car and road car (182)
if u fancy some 10mile old toyo's u can buy mine in the forsale thread and get some free compos ;) haha.
Crowds.

Do yours have a circled "E" mark anywhere on the tyre? Some have come from places other than Germany and their quality has been questioned.
