View Full Version : Update :- Hybrid Interior Colour Change! Polycarbs now in!
After a busy 3 day weekend (being a student bum, i took fri off) my hybrid has had a change of colour!
Thurs night, all day fri - prep work, removing stuff, sanding and masking off
Fri night - first coat of primer
All day saturday - second coat of primer, 2 coats of white, and 2 coats of clear laquer
All day sunday - refitting everything, unmasking and cleaning areas.
One hell of a weekend but i think it was worth it!

No but getting a decent finish is, esp on large surfaces with a rattle can, pant gun does larger surfaces better if you can set t up right

lookin good stw, doin mine this weekend in 449, same old i know but wanna make it mint,
Keep up the good work mate
Thanks for the comments guys!
Just spray cans!
It was easy doing the primer but the white was hard work. Muchos overpsray, and it ran very easily. Just glad i masked everything properly! Got it looking as good as i could. Trick is to build the layers up slowly, and spend decent amount of time prepping the areas!
Watch this space for windows coming soon!
Can't believe i have only had this car since August 05, and the state its in already! Started life as a FULL FAT hybird, even with leather seats, sub and amp etc. Haha that lasted long! I blame martin and the nana!
Spent far too much £££ but its all worth it when driving country B roads. When i get the cage in it will be seeing a lot more of Nockhill, and local hillclimbs!
Im liking the interior all sprayed up.
Will be doing mine soon in 449.
What did you do about the windows and the dash when you sprayed? just covered it up in lots of newspaper? lol
Rear windows came out, and were masked with newspaper on the outside, nice and tight, so no spray came thru to the outside!
Doors opened, and masked with newspaper again, nice and tight. I climbed in thru the boot!
Sunroof was masked with cardboard!
Dashboard with plenty of newspaper. Infact nearly everything got the newspaper treatment....handbrake...gearstick...etc etc
Spraying with 449 will be so much easier than white. Almost 1/2 the cabin is 449 anyway.
Id advise following my guide for removing the sound deadening before spraying. makes it much better!
Coooooooooooooooooool indeed
Thats bootiful mate........Done a great job on that.
top job there 8) must have been a bit of a mission

As I said the other day in Uni mate, it looks absolutely amazing... so much so I am even thinking of doing it to mine, but think mine would be better in red with a bright white cage :P
Shame your not coming to FCS as you wouldnt believe how bright this car is. Keep up the good work and I will see you when you get your light windows in, will need to chap your rear windows every day until they make a different noise, lol.
Where's the net from fella?
The net was courtesy of winston.
No idea where he got it, but im sure its just a helmet hammock or such like!
demon tweeks sell them mate

Cool.
Will have a go at taking out the sound deadening before spraying up.
How many cans of paint and primer did you use for a reference?
3 primer. Buy 4 incase!
8 (i think) of the white. I bought 3 to start with and had to keep buying more!
4 of laquer.
All 500ml cans!
Cool. quite a few cans then really.
Im not going to bother with laquer, having the sun reflect off that into my eyes would get annoying.
Will have a go at that soon.
Cheers.
UPDATE - Polycarbonate (FlexiGlass) Windows Fitted!
Very very impressed with www.plastics4performance.co.uk
The kit was delivered on time (to scotland! ) as requested, ahead of the 2 week "lead/production" time!
Fantastic quality, fitted easily!
Only thing ill have to get used to it the leaky sliders! (Tip for anyone - dont get sliders - i just felt it would be rude not to! ) Do really like them tho! 8)

Northy - I could do with a new williamsclio.co.uk sticker for the rear screen. Do you have 2 sizes? I had a small one before, but fancy something a little bigger. Whats the dimensions?
