View Full Version : My Throttle Bodied f7R-710
finally my Dcoe inlet manifold arrived from belgium. Big thanks to craig (stan on here) for ordering it up. fitted the bodies tonight bit of a sweat had to grind away part of the powersteering pump and make clearence for the throttle linkage but all is well runs nicely. Need to get it remapped asap now as its only running webers standard map for the 1.8. cant wait to drive it

hehe :D ow much that cost if you dont mind me askin? and did you fit yourself?
nice work fella...id say they the webers.....look same as mine.
wot u doin with the rad?? will need sortin really b4 u get it mapped.
iv also been told that cutting the subby n droppin the rad down on it could be a poss mot failure...
Yep they are webers. ive dropped the rad about 4 inches and moved it forward trimmed the subframe slightly for clearence should be ok for mot i reckon.
was me mate that told me.he is an mot er......he raised some questions about the one im putting back to std, from having bodies on......mainly about the subby lol...says if its deemed as altering structural rigidity of anything.its an instant fail.....even if welded up stronger than it was originally, cos its modified could poss go as a fail also...
but then he is a bit anal on stuff sometimes...its his lisence after all

But that one that you have just looks like the rad tray has been dropped right? The rad tray isn't structurally integral to the subframe. Otherwise half the cars on here would prolly fail as the rad trays always rust through.
Or has the actual subframe itself been altered?

the metal at the bottom of the rad has been cut away and lowered a few inches
yeah i wouldnt have thought itd be a problem tbh..but thats wot he tells me. the 1 on geds has been cut quite a way back tbh....more than needed i reckon.
is ged still about ?
did his car ever get finished
yea, might be a failure?
I heard that any structural defects 6" from the subframe and its mounting points is a fail?
Love all the air space behind the radiator. Is that a standard fan? Looks a bit small.

yes mate geds still about.....iv got his car in the unit at mo...and yes...its just about finished lol.

the rad rail isnt far from the front subby mounting points mate.
oh well soon see when i take it for mot probably depends on how thurer the person testing it aswell. worse comes to worse new subframe and differnty rad. wont be at fcs this year hopefully next year cheers for everyones comments

what sort of manifold did you use mate? Would a twin weber 45 carb manifold work ok?
looks good but sort your coolant out or it will blow up
coolant is fresh bottle is not fresh lol. was a dcoe inlet manifold made by chadil in belgium and was not cheap.
bit of a disaster took car for a spin and it quickly developed a knocking noise. checked cam timing etc and for anything loose. Stan came around last night and diagnosed it as big end bearings which were the only bearings that i didnt bother to change (typical). So its all got to come out again. tempted to put the cylinderhead throttle bodies etc on 1.8 bottom end for now just to get car back on the road. Then can tweek 2.0 bottom end whilst its out lightend and balanced maybe even some high compression pistons etc. before reffiting it all and getting it mapped.
sorry to hear that.
always the case when things break - its the bits you never changed
ohh unlucky!
as northy says, its sods law that something breaks that you never changed.
hope u get it up and running again soon!

Thats a shame. Did you prime the oil pump before you fired the engine (i.e. span the engine over with the LT lead off)?
Matt

I'd say that's unfair on Sod's Law! It's bound to be the thing that brakes if everything else is new
Unlucky it happened so soon though :(
