got a 2nd standard ECU to try, it has all the same numbers as the one thats HP chipped and on the car now, yet it wont start it, it doesnt kick the fuel pump into life

is this ECU faulty or has it just got a built in immobiliser like the later ones

If your ecu has been chipped Nick could have put any map onto it.
Not sure weather the standard chip controls the immobiliser?

well i have used another ECU with the same numbers and that runs the car ok

I would say it's faulty then.

Yeah sounds like the ecu is faulty.
