View Full Version : Why would my car use a R19 ECU ?
after getting the fabrication numbers for my engine/car etc ive had a look at the ECU section on Dialogys
it seems the ECU for my car is a 77 00 863 568, which in S number terms is a S101715103
and, after a quick google, it seems this is a R19 1.8 16v ECU, not a valver one
the other ECU it lists for my car in Dialogys is a S101262105 7700857528 which is a Clio ECU but it only lists that as a secondary part and doesnt give me the price for it
hmmmmmmmm
proberly failed at some point so they stuck that on lol
If its the ECU that was in it when i had it then IIRC Infinicar apparently got it from a turbo'd Clio 16v (hence the EPROM socket in place). Can only assume whoever built that used whatever was close to hand.
nah mate the ECU thats in it, is a Clio 16v one
the ECU thats supposed to be in it, according to Dialogys, is one from a R19 which doesnt make sense
Ah - a bit odd then! :?
Could just be a friday afternoon effort...i.e. they used whatever they had lying about?
The only other thing i could think about is that phase2 R19's came out about about the same time as your clio was made. Pretty sure they had an imobiliser built in so maybe renault used the last of the phase 1 19 ECU's in clios to get rid of excess stock?
think ill ring Nick Hill tomorrow and ask him
You sure the information you got via google was correct Brun??
And outa interest what difference does it make....it works doesn't it?
yup but somethin isnt quite right
occasionally on a night when i come to go home from the g/f's my car will do the following
-start it up, connect my stereo etc, put it in reverse, give it some gas, as i do this the revs will suddenly drop to lower than they should be and slowly pick back up, the car runs a bit sluggish then for 30 seconds then goes back to normal
to be honest im starting to suspect if my lambda sensor has broke after only a couple of months, not sure how to test one though, also, it could be my fuel pump with it being so old, ive got a replacement but want someone to fit it for me as i cant get the OE hose clips off and i dont want to damage the hose
Use jubilee clips for the fuel pump, if its the fuel pump on its way out then it will mis fire at full thropttle near the limiter, not just starting off
If lamba is ****ed it will rattle, and you will get a shite idle at cold
idle is perfect
yea i remember my lambda symptoms and its not quite like those really tbh
u sure its not jus the stereo drainin power??
certain mate
however i do still need to put the other inlet manifold on, as the map sensor pipe is araldited to the one on it now after the connector broke off
get my pic for ya in the media section mate?
