Don't tell me, you hated Mansell and didn't like Hill much either?
mansell was my idle!
Had loads of models of his car when i was a kid.
When he left i didnt watch F1 all that much
total legend!!

He's even kicking ass in the GP Masters too isn't he...
and his 2 boys have just started single seaters now aswell...although I think they are a tad too old to do anything serious, but you never know...

Na both mansell and hill are legends!
Much better drivers compared to button IMO
Fairy nuff! Surprised you don't like Button but like Mansell - I always got the impression Nige was an aquired taste, but Button seems like a nice enough chap.
All legends in my opinion though. Would be nice to have just 5% of their talent
i think a lot of the 'talent' comes down to having the correct backing tbh.
i mean if u were given a couple months in an f1 car, single seater etc, and given free reign to acquaint urself with it..i bet u cud be lappin somewhere near.
admittedly..some of the drivers ability is amazing.....but unfortunately its not in f1 any more
I very much doubt I could get anywhere near qualifying for a F1 race, even after a years worth of testing in a very competitive car. These guys are in another league.
Granted, getting into F1 relies hugely on luck, opportunities and backing, but you still need to be good enough to get there and I'd be very, very surprised if any of us were even close to F1 driver levels of skill.
Not even close....even after the most amazing drive on a track day where you think you couldn't go any faster.
I have had the pleasure :? of sitting with one of the top rally drivers ever, and in the ANCRO national championships I could hold my own...but that scared the living daylights outta me.
There is now way on earth, even a few years practice I could ever be that standard. Car control and commitment were simply mind bending!
I know my place now...and I am happy down here.
yeah u still need to be good enuff to get there.but once there the ability of teh driver becomes pretty much obsolete. theres that many driver aids they could actually now drive their car from the pits if they could recreate the steering in the pits lol.
but to be good enuf to get there isnt always the case. theres plenty other drivers out there that have beaten the f1 stars month in month out in other classes that arent in f1.

Yeah, and those guys are also better than we'll ever be. Certainly we wouldn't even be close if we were given a couple months in an f1 car and given free reign to get used to it. We'd be now way near F1 driver speed.
There are some drivers that are in F1 only cos they bring money and sponsorship to the deal. But it shows!
nah..i reckon given enuf time and backing u could make it near their times.
its only practise, control ,and balls that are needed really.
and the control comes with the practise
