I gotta Fit A New Head Gasket on my 16v, Any tips?....

    Hey there,

I just yesterday had a chemical test done to see if my head gasket was on its way out.. after a min there was a colour change in the fluid.. Its only starting to go so im preparing to start in the next week or so..

Im just curious if there are any hidden problems, if there is anything i need to order in other than the gasket.. has anyone replaced one before and found any problem that would I would come across.. A mechanic told me it was a horrible job. Why is that so, i know clio engines aren't laid out too well but is this going to make this to difficult to do. Me and my dad are giving it a go and he has replace many head gaskets over his time and seems to think it is a walk in the park, im a bit worried that we're taking a something on we cant finish.

We managed to fit a new heater matrix and that was a bit of pain in the ass is this on par or more work do you think..

Any information or tips would be helpful..

    Cheers..

ai i did, all on me own with no previous experience n just a little advice form peeps on this ere forum!

u need to do cam belt and tensioner/idler pulley as matter of cause and change the head bolts n all. technically thats all u NEED to replace but i did loads of other shite while it was in pieces n all. make sure u get the head checked for cracks n skimmed n all before it goes back on.

its not too hard to do and can probably be done over a weekend if u can get the head done quick enuf and ur dad knows what he's doing. like i said i did it on my own but i took over 2 months to do it cuz i did it all my self and refurbed loads of other stuff n all!
