i lasted about 150 miles before i thought **** it after doing my head gasket and no issues. i think rule of thumb is unless u tough the bottom end it really dont need running in anyway!

Just build the revs up bit by bit mate. But generally I don't think you have to worry with a top end rebuild anyway, so you should be fine now.

Don't baby the car too much. If you run it in way below operating conditions, the new bits may not bed in properly. And the very first time you thrash the engine, it may throw a fit.

If you've fitted new cams you should be keeping the engine between 2000 and 3000 to run them in.

people say different things about running in engines!

for top end rebuilds, there is no need to pamper it. Just drive sensibly for the first few hundred miles and it will be fine. Making sure the engine is loaded and accelerating, but keeping the revs down.

for a bottom end build its the same really. you need to load the engine and accelerate it properly so the components bed in properly. just dont see the top end of the rev range for the first good few hundred miles.

spoke to the guy today when i took my book into get stamped, he said it should be fine to leather it a bit just now, i rarely break the limit anyway in fear of gettin points but theres nowt wrong with a few overtaking blasts on the b roads

    cheers
