195/50/15 is a good compromise.. between the best and the original.. or something.. by some, crazy, odd maths anyway.

went to costco today and offered a 195 50 15 to a 185 55 15 and there is a lot of differance...bet the acceleration will be alittle slower with the 185's on.

Nick is probably right performance wise . I have used 195/45 on the front a few times on track and the turn in is superb. I dont really bother with them as 195/50/15's are so cheap though . I have been using Goodyear F1's for quite a while now , but may be tempted with the new Toyo T1R's come replacement time.

I'm in a tyre dilema at the moment. Need a full set really, currently have Michelin Pilot HX's in 185/55 on the fronts and the rear passenger and some crap cheapo on the rear drivers I like the way the car handles on 185/55's, good grip and turn in and it seems to take the bumpy county roads where I live very well. Although, I have no experience of Williams handling on wider low profile tyres so it would be a bit of a gamble going for 195/50's /45's. How would they cope with very bumpy, uneven and broken up road surfaces, would they tramline more and would they provide more grip?

Havent really used 45 profile on the road , but have used the 50 profile tyres for years and they are superb on tight , slippery , bumpy back roads . Which is good as we have some of the best mountain roads right on our doorstep. :D

I use 195/50/15, they were cheaper, I feel more confident going into fast bends, however they can tramline if the road surface is a bit iffy.
