well, best to start with the basics, although tbh you could prolly just about squeeze to cams for that price...AWT come highly recommended. so either, filter (K&N or ITG) £30, zorst, Top Gear MotorSport Burnley and Blue Flame in Wigan are good, £250ish, then decat, again, same previous mentioned places £60 (all custom made too). chip wiazards also very good, results are fooking incredible for a remap, which alone makes as much difference as cams for £350, however get both and it's a lethal combination. on the strip they can look similar in terms of times, but just look at 2 lives and the nana for fully prep'd track cars and it's how fast they get to the limiter in 5th that's the scariest thing. i'll get mine mapped soon so it will basically be to same spec, had it near already when i borrowed 2 lives chip for the track day... difference over a standard williams is incredible, makes it look like they are in reverse

A grand you say? let me think.......

if she's totaly standard then i would get :

1)Free flowing air filter (ITG ~£25)
2)Stainless Steel exhaust system and decat pipe ~£300
    3)260deg cams and remap ~£700

    Depends what you want really....

A grand dont go very far when it comes to tuning im afraid.

Im looking at over 2k for :

    276deg piper cams
    vernier pulleys
    new hydraulic followers
    cambelt and tensioners
porting of the head and matching inlet and exhaust manifolds
    dastek ECU
    new radiator
    19 row oil cooler
    new clutch
cleaned and painted engine and gearbox

Should be rocking when done though!

^ what Jesus said lol If you intend on getting cams at some point in the future don't bother with the chipwizard map, save it for afterwards. But if you are keeping the car on std cams go for the exhaust, de-cat, re-map and supersprint manifold.

Can't comment on the williams, but on the RSi (1.8 8v) it is noticably 'freeer' higher up teh rev range, and it seems to pull for longer, also give it a nice beefy rumble, and it will pop and if you are lucky spit flames lol
